Zoroga Expedition Camp
Zoroga Expedition Camp
Zoroga Expedition Camp
Your base camp on the
edge of the Makgadikgadi
Zoroga Expedition Camp sits between the villages of Nata and Gweta, right on the doorstep of one of the most extraordinary landscapes on earth. This is where the Makgadikgadi begins to reveal itself, and where your adventure into the pans starts in earnest.
Inspired by the Basarwa people who have called this landscape home for thousands of years, the camp is built around simplicity, character and a genuine connection to the land around it. The accommodation is rustic and real, the atmosphere is warm and unhurried, and the setting, with vast open skies and the pan stretching away to the horizon, does all the work that no amount of design could replicate.
It's the kind of place that gets under your skin quickly. A campfire in the evening, a sky packed with stars, the silence of the Makgadikgadi settling around you as the day cools. This is Botswana before the crowds, before the queues, before anyone else arrives.
Accommodation
Zoroga offers a range of accommodation to suit different styles and group sizes. The dome-shaped Bushman huts sit on raised decks, each sleeping two, with twin beds, daily servicing and bedside lighting. The traditional Bushman huts offer the same comfortable simplicity at ground level.
For families or groups travelling together, the shaded family tents each sleep four across two connected units.
All guests share access to the camp's communal swimming pool, kiosk and bar area, scullery and braai spaces. It is genuinely good value for an overnight in one of Africa's most remarkable corners.

Makgadikgadi pan sleep-out
There are very few experiences in Africa that match a night spent sleeping out on the salt pans. No tent, no walls, no light pollution of any kind. Just you, a comfortable bed roll, an open fire and a sky of quite extraordinary proportions. The Milky Way on a clear night above the Makgadikgadi is the kind of thing that recalibrates your sense of scale permanently. Best experienced during the dry season.
