Moela Safari Lodge
Where the Boteti River puts on a show
Moela Safari Lodge sits on the high banks of the Boteti River Valley on a 770ha private reserve bordering the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, and the view from the lodge is one of those things that stops a conversation mid-sentence and holds it there. Below the lodge, the Boteti River Valley serves as the only available water source across this vast landscape during the dry winter months, drawing zebra and wildebeest in concentrations so extraordinary that the word migration, used so freely across the African continent, finally feels like it means something here.
Built entirely by skilled Batswana artisans using locally sourced materials, the lodge is as rooted in its landscape as the wildlife that surrounds it. Solar-powered, thoughtfully designed and run with a genuine commitment to the land and the community that has called this valley home for generations, Moela is a lodge that earns its place in the landscape rather than simply occupying it.
Accommodation
Eight en-suite fully serviced thatched suites, each with a private wildlife viewing deck positioned to make the most of the extraordinary river valley below. Bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas have been carefully designed to maximise the views, with mosquito nets, daily laundry and all the comfort required for a properly relaxing stay in one of Botswana's most spectacular settings.
Families and children are welcome, and the central living area, a traditional thatch and clay structure with views across the valley, sets the tone for evenings that tend to stretch considerably longer than planned.
